"AI marketing agency" draws 3,600 US searches a month, tying "saas marketing agency" as the second largest term in our 46-keyword study of how buyers look for marketing and GTM help. The vocabulary of the new model barely registers: "ai native agency", "ai native marketing agency" and "agentic marketing agency" total 120 searches combined, while "fractional cmo" alone draws 6,600. Buyers want AI in the work and still search by the roles they already know.
Key findings
- Combined demand: The 46 keywords in this dataset total 34,950 US monthly searches (Methodology).
- The AI head term is big: "ai marketing agency" gets 3,600 monthly searches, tied with "saas marketing agency" and behind only "fractional cmo" at 6,600.
- AI share of demand: AI and agentic terms make up 30% of the keywords (14 of 46) and 19.7% of the volume (6,870 searches).
- The AI-native category name has not formed: "ai native agency" (50), "agentic marketing agency" (40) and "ai native marketing agency" (30) sum to 120 searches, 0.3% of the dataset.
- Familiar models dominate: Fractional and outsourced terms total 9,540 searches (27.3%) and agency-by-type terms total 9,860 (28.2%), together more than half of all demand.
- Advertisers pay most for B2B SaaS buyers: "b2b saas marketing agency" has the highest CPC in the set at $53.00, and "agentic marketing" is second at $32.06.
- The AI head term is the hardest agency query to rank for: "ai marketing agency" has a keyword difficulty of 49, second only to "gtm strategy" (63), against a dataset median of 22.
- Most of the set is reachable: 16 of the 39 keywords with a difficulty score sit at KD 20 or below.
- Price questions are a small share of searches: The five cost and pricing terms total 1,170 searches, 3.3% of the dataset.
- Incumbent content trails the new vocabulary: A large US growth-agency blog ranking for about 15,100 keywords sits at positions 70 to 92 for three agentic marketing queries and 73 to 74 for two GTM engineering definition queries (Semrush, October 24, 2026).
How many people search for an AI marketing agency in 2026?
About 3,600 people in the US search "ai marketing agency" each month, which places the term in a tie for second across all 46 hiring-intent keywords we analyzed. Only "fractional cmo" (6,600) draws more.
The term is also expensive to win organically. Its keyword difficulty of 49 is the highest of any agency-type query in the set and more than double the dataset median of 22. Its CPC of $11.83 sits slightly below the $12.10 median, which suggests advertisers have not yet bid the AI head term up the way they have bid up vertical agency terms such as "saas marketing agency" ($25.91).
The rest of the AI cluster is long tail. Of the 14 AI and agentic keywords, only "ai marketing agency" clears 1,000 searches.

What do buyers search for when they hire marketing or GTM help?
Buyers search mostly for named roles and agency types they already understand. The two largest clusters, agency-by-type and fractional or outsourced help, account for 55.5% of all monthly volume in the dataset.
| Cluster | Keywords | US monthly volume | Share of volume | Median KD | Largest term |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agency by type | 5 | 9,860 | 28.2% | 27 | saas marketing agency (3,600) |
| Fractional and outsourced | 7 | 9,540 | 27.3% | 26 | fractional cmo (6,600) |
| AI and agentic | 14 | 6,870 | 19.7% | 20 | ai marketing agency (3,600) |
| GTM strategy, consulting and engineering | 10 | 6,310 | 18.1% | 18 | gtm strategy (2,400) |
| Agency selection and comparison | 5 | 1,200 | 3.4% | 21.5 | how to choose a marketing agency (590) |
| Pricing and cost | 5 | 1,170 | 3.3% | 27 | fractional cmo cost (390) |
| All keywords | 46 | 34,950 | 100% | 22 | fractional cmo (6,600) |
Median KD excludes keywords without a Semrush difficulty score (7 of 46).
The GTM cluster deserves a closer read. "gtm engineering" draws 1,300 searches at KD 18, and the three GTM engineering terms together total 1,590. The job title now outsearches "go to market consulting" (1,000). Founders who want a systems-minded operator are learning the new job title faster than they are learning a new agency category. Our guide on what GTM engineering is covers the role in detail.
Is "AI-native agency" a real search category yet?
The term exists in the index but has almost no demand. "ai native agency" draws 50 searches a month, "agentic marketing agency" 40 and "ai native marketing agency" 30, for 120 combined.
Set against established terms, the gap is two orders of magnitude:
| Established term | Volume | AI-native or AI-specific counterpart | Volume | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| fractional cmo | 6,600 | ai native marketing agency | 30 | 220 to 1 |
| saas marketing agency | 3,600 | ai native agency | 50 | 72 to 1 |
| growth marketing agency | 2,900 | agentic marketing agency | 40 | 73 to 1 |
| gtm engineering | 1,300 | gtm engineering agency | 30 | 43 to 1 |
| marketing agency pricing | 390 | ai marketing agency pricing | 20 | 20 to 1 |
Buyers who want AI-driven delivery currently type "ai marketing agency" and stop there. Categories form when enough buyers adopt a shared name, and that has not happened for AI-native services. For a firm selling the model, the practical rule is to rank and bid on the terms buyers already use ("fractional cmo", "saas marketing agency", "ai marketing agency") and explain the AI-native delivery model on the landing page itself. Waiting for "ai native agency" to grow means waiting on buyers to invent the vocabulary.
A related pattern shows up in AI search. In a separate Semrush pull from October 18, 2026, "llm seo" drew 1,900 monthly searches against 590 for "llm seo agency" in this dataset. Buyers research the discipline about three times as often as they search for someone to hire for it, which favors firms that publish the explanation first.
Which GTM agency keywords cost the most to advertise on?
"b2b saas marketing agency" is the most expensive keyword in the dataset at $53.00 per click, followed by "agentic marketing" at $32.06. The median CPC across the 19 keywords with CPC data is $12.10.
| Keyword | CPC | US monthly volume | KD |
|---|---|---|---|
| b2b saas marketing agency | $53.00 | 1,600 | 20 |
| agentic marketing | $32.06 | 480 | 25 |
| best b2b marketing agencies | $30.62 | 260 | 24 |
| llm seo agency | $26.68 | 590 | 16 |
| saas marketing agency | $25.91 | 3,600 | 32 |
| what is gtm engineering | $17.49 | 260 | 18 |
| outsourced marketing | $15.26 | 1,000 | 25 |
| ai agents for marketing | $14.40 | 590 | 35 |
CPC measures advertiser competition and says nothing directly about how much a buyer will spend. Even so, two signals stand out. The pairing of a $53.00 CPC with a KD of 20 makes "b2b saas marketing agency" the strongest organic target in the set, since paid clicks are costly and the organic page is comparatively winnable. And "agentic marketing" draws a CPC 2.6 times the median on only 480 searches, a sign that vendors are bidding on the concept before buyer demand has caught up. Definitional content on what agentic marketing is earns that traffic without paying the auction price.
How does search demand compare with what marketing leaders report about AI and agencies?
Survey data shows marketing leaders adopting AI and trimming agency budgets faster than search vocabulary is changing. Search behavior still runs on familiar labels even as budgets move.
The Gartner 2025 CMO Spend Survey, fielded among 402 marketing leaders from February through March 2025, found that 22% of CMOs said GenAI had let them rely less on external agencies. Chief Marketer's coverage of the same survey reports that 39% of CMOs plan to cut agency allocations and that agencies fell to 20.7% of 2025 marketing spend. Ewan McIntyre, VP Analyst and Chief of Research in the Gartner Marketing Practice, described the order of cuts plainly: "they're going to look to their third-party partners first before they look at their in-house team."
McKinsey's State of AI in 2026 survey of 1,719 participants reports that nearly nine in ten respondents use AI regularly in at least one business function, and about two in ten have reached the scaling phase with AI agents across their organization. The same survey finds that revenue gains are most often attributed to AI in marketing and sales.
| Benchmark | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| CMOs who say GenAI reduced reliance on external agencies | 22% | Gartner 2025 CMO Spend Survey |
| CMOs planning to cut agency allocations | 39% | Gartner, via Chief Marketer |
| Agency share of 2025 marketing spend | 20.7% | Gartner, via Chief Marketer |
| Respondents using AI regularly in at least one function | nearly 9 in 10 | McKinsey, State of AI in 2026 |
| Respondents scaling AI agents across the organization | about 2 in 10 | McKinsey, State of AI in 2026 |
| Share of hiring-intent search volume using AI terms | 19.7% | Torque GTM analysis (this report) |
Read together, the numbers describe a lag. Enterprise marketing leaders already use AI widely, and a fifth of CMOs credit it with lower agency dependence, yet only one in five hiring searches mentions AI and almost none name the AI-native model. Gartner's sample skews toward companies above $1 billion in revenue, so the comparison is directional for startups. The implication for founders is that the AI-native option exists on the supply side well before buyers have a standard term for it, so the burden of explaining the model sits with the provider.
Why does incumbent agency content rank poorly for AI-native terms?
Incumbent agency blogs built their authority on older vocabulary, and the new terms arrived after most of that content was written. On October 24, 2026, one of the largest US growth-agency blogs, ranking for about 15,100 keywords, held these Semrush positions:
| Query | Position |
|---|---|
| agentic marketing | 70 |
| what is agentic marketing | 81 |
| agentic ai in marketing | 92 |
| what is gtm engineering / what is a gtm engineer | 73 and 74 |
Positions in the 70s and 90s sit on page seven or later and send almost no clicks. Domain authority alone has not carried this blog onto page one for the AI-native vocabulary. Combined with KD scores of 18 to 25 on "agentic marketing", "what is agentic marketing" and "what is gtm engineering", the gap points to a window where a focused definitional page can outrank much larger domains. Windows like this tend to close as incumbents publish, so timing matters more than volume.
Where does the AI-native GTM model fit for a founder?
An AI-native GTM team uses tools and agentic workflows for the repeatable production work and puts human time into decisions, which lowers the labor cost per deliverable and shortens turnaround. The model works best when scope is fixed and the inputs are documented.
The cost mechanics come from where hours go. In a retainer model, much of the billed time covers first drafts, research summaries, competitor scans, sequence variants and reporting. Tools now produce first passes of that work in minutes, so a fixed-scope sprint can be priced on the deliverable with the hours left out of the equation. The speed mechanics follow the same logic: a positioning draft, messaging framework or outbound sequence review that would wait in a queue for a week can be generated, checked and revised within a working session once the company's context layer (its documented messaging and positioning) is in place.
The model has clear limits, because tools cannot run customer interviews, decide which segment to bet on, approve claims for legal accuracy or judge whether a message fits a founder's credibility with a specific buyer. Agentic workflows also degrade fast when the context layer is thin, producing confident copy built on guesses. A human operator still has to own positioning choices, final edits and anything a buyer will read as a promise.
Founders can test the model in layers. The free landing page audit and value proposition generator show what tool-generated diagnosis looks like at no cost. Paid tools such as the positioning tool, messaging framework and AI Search Visibility Report go deeper on one problem at a time. Teams that want an operator to run the work can scope a fixed-price sprint through the async intake at the AI-native GTM agency page, where every price is published before work starts. Methodology
Source and date: Semrush Keyword Overview, bulk analysis, US database, pulled October 25, 2026. Competitive ranking positions come from Semrush organic research data dated October 24, 2026. The "llm seo" comparison uses a separate Semrush pull from October 18, 2026.
Keyword selection: Torque GTM editors compiled 46 US English keywords that express intent to hire, evaluate or price outside marketing or GTM help: role and model terms (fractional, outsourced), agency-type terms, AI and agentic service terms, GTM strategy and engineering terms, selection and comparison queries, and cost queries. Each keyword was assigned to exactly one of six clusters. "ai marketing agency pricing" sits in the AI cluster and "fractional cmo vs agency" in the fractional cluster.
Metrics: Monthly search volume, keyword difficulty (KD, 0 to 100) and cost per click (CPC, USD) as reported by Semrush. Seven keywords had no KD score and 27 had no CPC figure; medians use only keywords with values. AI terms are keywords containing "ai", "agentic", "llm" or "aeo".
Limitations: Semrush volumes are modeled estimates and can differ from Google Ads or Search Console data. The data covers the US only and reflects a single month, so seasonality and trend direction are not measured. Keyword selection reflects editorial judgment and is not an exhaustive list of hiring queries. Search intent is inferred from wording; the data cannot confirm that searchers are founders. The external benchmarks use different populations (Gartner's sample skews toward large enterprises) and serve as directional context.
